It’s been a good ride

14 Dec

For the past few years I’ve thoroughly enjoyed blogging with this wordpress blog.  The interface and presentation has been enjoyable and very user friendly.  I’ve recently moved my website to a new hosting platform and with it I can now integrate blogging directly into my website.  Not only that, but I can split my blog into two (or more) categories, which I have done.  All of the content of this blog has not been integrated into my new site which can be found at www.jmphotographyonline.ca with a recent work blog and a Personal work blog The recent work blog is home to my wedding and portrait work and the personal work blog is home to a lot of my street work and other personal shooting.

I am thankful for the followers I have picked up during my WordPress bloggin journey and hope that you will continue to follow the blog in it’s new home.

I am going to leave this blog up until I can figure out how to have the existing links point to the new site (if that is even possible)

Thank you again, and keep your eyes open for a new post this evening!

Emily is nine days old.  She managed to pee on three of my blankets but other than that she was very cooperative. Here’s a sneak peek of our session from this morning.

Krystaal In Concert

30 Apr

If you are looking for an inspiring group of people to be around who have a story filled with miracle, you would be wise to start with the Lwamba brothers Michel, Fabian and Aliston who make up the group Krystaal.  The brothers were, at one time, refugees from the Congo who weren’t sure if their other family members were alive or not.  After spending time in camps separated from their brother, Michel and Aliston were brought to Canada.  Shortly after arriving in Canada Michel sent a letter to a friend in his old camp to let him know he was doing well, the letter was spotted by Fabian who had been moved to the same camp that his brothers had just left.  Fabian could not mistake the handwriting and was reunited with his brothers after this miracle sighting of the letter   One blogger has told their story here.  Since being reunited in Canada along with a number of other family members, they have been making award winning music and giving back through their incredible gift.

I had the privilege of capturing their concert last night and a privilege it was!  Along with an opening band Echoes of Praise, they put together 3 hours of wonderful music!

Ally On The Blog

29 Feb

Last week I had the opportunity to collaborate with three great ladies that I connected with on Model Mayhem.  Ally, as it turns out is a Toronto model who grew up in the Miramichi where I lived fro three years in my late teens.  Small world.  We also had Maeghan who is a talented makeup artist and two outfits provided by a Leanne, a local designer.

The first two looks are as designed by Leanne and styled by Ally.  For the third look Maeghan added some drama to the makeup and we got outside into the cold.

Beautiful Bala Night And It’s Star Trails

21 Aug

Last week was family vacation week as we joined the in-law side of the family at “Uncle Ken’s Cottage” for the week. Insert in-law jokes here (most are applicable). It was a great time and I captured a number of great images, but most of my images are just for me and my family. I did, however, find the opportunity to sit on the dock and enjoy a cigar while capturing my first ever star trail image.

16 Jun

I drove down Yonge St. on my way to dinner last night with my camera on the passenger seat of the car and decided to stick it out the window as I travelled.

A Drive By shooting of sorts.
